Alexander has worked as a photographer and artist since the mid-2000s. His photos have appeared in outlets including Vice and Sleek, been used for record covers, published, and exhibited internationally.
At some point, sound began running through these exhibitions too: mixes, loops, noise, unwieldy and raw. What started as accompaniment grew increasingly independent. Alongside his rudimentary, often self-built photo equipment, a collection of sound-generating devices took shape. The project recently got its own name: Gleichzeitig Tisch
What exists so far are early ideas. Barocke Plastiken and Konstruierte Abfahrten move between Berlin School, loop music, and early-90s techno.
Sometimes the tracks are sparse to the point of nearly empty, sometimes overloaded, repetitive, occasionally too long. An aesthetic of the unfinished-finished runs through all of it, things are left as they are, where others might keep reworking them.
The text fragments woven into the samples are his own: surreal, slightly shifted language that sounds more found than made.
The connection to his photography is direct. Both are concerned with fragments, overlays, blur, repetition and the question of when something is actually finished.
