As the title of the video implies, Katalog (Catalogue) seems to present an animated collection of photographs linked by a shared context of meaning. However, the underlying logic remains largely concealed. Instead, Katalog evokes the sensation of a dream—where fleeting memories, vivid fragments, and subtle premonitions converge.

The magnified universe of the macro lens intertwines with expansive landscapes, while textures of nature encounter technology and human-made artifacts. Katalog’s images transcend their literal subject matter, becoming symbols that coalesce into a narrative shaped by the viewer’s perception.

The aesthetic playfully references the visual language of modern Presentation Culture (as described by Erica Robles-Anderson and Patrik Svensson), meaning slide projections and business presentations. At the same time, the ambient-like soundscape enhances the contemplative atmosphere, evoking inner images that arise during moments of daydreaming or meditation.

By the way: In Katalog blurred contours and luminous reflections are not the result of post-production. These effects are created through the experimental use of vintage lenses, pinhole cameras, and optical toys such as filters and prisms. In doing so, the work invites the viewer into a visual interplay that oscillates between clarity and ambiguity.
